Hey everyone. This is going to be a rant about giveaways so feel free to skip if you want.
So here's a story:
I won a giveaway WAYY back in November and the this person (who I shall not name, yet) "flake" on me. Basically This giveaway was announced back in Oct 2009 and I was picked as a giveaway winner in Nov 2009. This person contacted me asking for my address on the day that it was announced and I gave her my information. I waited for the package but it never came. So I decided to email her on Dec 10, 2009 (for the first time) and asked nicely if she has sent it out. She emailed me back saying that she will the next day or so. Days passed by and as of today, I still NEVER got my package. I emailed her again on Dec 24th (for the second time) to see if she send it out by now but no reply and I'm so sick of waiting, you know? The point about this rant is the fact that this person has not keep her words! She said she would but never did. How would you girls feel if this has happened to you?
What I want to talk about is the time period. I'm talking about "how long is it TOO LONG for you to receive a package?" I mean it's ALMOST 2 months now and she is just being flaky. As for me, I always keep my words. For example, I told my fellow blogger that I will send her package out the next day and I did. At first I was really upset about not getting the goodies but now, it's not really about that anymore. I'm more upset about how this person did NOT keep her words. The thing is, if you are too busy to send out the package or whatever, they why would you EVEN have a giveaway in the first place. You know what I'm saying? And get this: this person held ANOTHER giveaway and have announced new winners after this incident. Okay, first of all, this girl didn't even send out my package and she had another giveaway? How funny. I find this situation really disappointing. I can't believe that someone on blogspot who shares the same passion as me and other girls about makeup, will lie about this. This person is the kind of person that ruins the fun out of giveaways. Seriously, she kept saying she didn't forget and she would send it out but she never did. The longest time period that I waited for my package is 1 month. But this is ALMOST 2 months now and let's face it, this person is probably NOT going to send out the package.
At first I wanted to reveal who the person is but I'll wait and see what happens. I hope that this person is ashamed of herself. I actually follow this person's blog and comment from time to time and we are nice to each other. I just can't believe she would turn out to be this kind of person. The reason that I decided to rant about this is because she never response to my second email. And let's face it, I don't want to "nag" about this package anymore.
So tell me, fellow bloggers, how would you feel if this happens to you? Would you blog about this experience like I did? What would you do?

I will SERIOUSLY reveal her identity. In this BLOGGER WORLD, its a small community of us who loves make up and stuff so it will be nice to know who to trust or not. This is kind of like the issue I had when my SWAP WENT WRONG and it was about another blogger girl.. I totally blogged about my experience and about her.

Anywho, it happens to me too. This girl held a give away and got my address but she never sent me my package!!! I got excited and all at that time but she never did. I stopped joining her give away. its so frustrating..
That is sad. I know some people are busy and things come up because it happens to me sometimes but I always make sure to let people know of any delays and when I will be able to send their things out. It's pretty inconsiderate to not even reply to your email especially when it's been 2 months!!! I will be really sad if I ever have to deal with someone dishonest and untrustworthy that I meet on here :( Everyone should respect each other and if not, don't hold giveaways or do swaps!

The first thing I thought when reading this was ah Crap I hope it wasn't ME lol sometimes my head is not screwed on and I am hopeless... but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't forget you my dear :) so I say name and shame... why not! It's not nice at all to promise and not deliver :(

I joined a makeup contest in July and I never got my prize for winning second place. I thought of shooting the blogger an email but decided against it after mulling over about it for some time. I also thought of asking the first prize winner if she had already received her parcel but I didn't because I didn't want to look like I'm after the prizes. Don't get me wrong, I'd sure love to receive my prize whatever it is, but I just didn't feel like pestering the blogger about it. Besides, I didn't want to make a molehill out of it. It's no biggie if she doesn't send out the prizes.
And I just have to add, Iyah has a point, a good one. In such a small community as this, it sure is nice to know who you can trust. And yes, things like this can surely suck the fun out of blogging about what we are most passionate about. Good luck to you

i won a couple of giveaways already & up until now i haven't received the prize from her. i won august but up until now i haven't received anything yet...
*sigh*
in my case when i do contest i make sure that i tell my winners when i sent the prizes. I hate it when i keep someone waiting...
I'm sorry to hear that hun. I know how you feel. I won a giveaway like 3 months ago and until now I haven't gotten my prize yet. Its sad too cuz she asked me to help her promote her store and i did... i even made a blog post dedicated to her and showing her items. she told me she will send it out after her bday.. which, God knows when, and lately she contacted me and told me that shes soo sorry that she hasn't sent her package out.
I'm not expecting anymore... she can keep her item if she wants. All I know for sure is that everytime I held a contest, I keep my words and even if its gona take awhile I let my ladies know all the time.
Okay, that's just wrong. If she's not gonna send out the prizes, why throwing a giveaway in the first place? I guess it was only to get more followers or something?
I've actually experienced this as well. I won a giveaway way back in June but I've never received the package. I thought it was the post office (since they always take so long to deliver international packages), but it's been over 5 months now and I just kind of forgot about it. Not that I don't want to claim my prizes, but I think it's kind of too little too late now.

I definitely would blog about it if it happened to me. but, I've delayed packages before because things came up, but I was sure to keep in touch with the other person until the package arrived in their hands. Just remember if you reveal their identity, madness might break loose without end. well, at least it wasn't a swap and you sent out something with out anything in return. Hope the giveaway wasn't some difficult contest! She already sucked the fun out of giveaways, don't let her suck the fun out of blogging. at least you know not to trust her. maybe ask the other winners (if any) if they got their packages. also, ask her for a delivery confirmation #. hope it all gets straightened out. <3 Rina
hahah i feel you! same thing happened to me, i won a contest that i totally wasn't expecting to win.. it's probably been a good year or so. i emailed her a few times with no response, and a few months ago she replied and said she was sorry, things have come up, etc.. but i still haven't heard back from her. i don't know why either :( she's a fairly "big" blogger i suppose and lots of people like her. i just don't want to be annoying but i did put effort into the look, SOOO.. why haven't i received my stuff either? boo!
Ouch... I'm lucky enough that this hasn't happened to me yet but I can totally imagine how disappointing it must feel... =/ I've had a few swaps that took a long time to complete, but I've never had anyone just totally flake out like that before and when I have issues getting to the post office I always always try to contact the person I'm mailing to to let them know.
I don't really have any advice because I'm not sure what I would do in this situation at all! I really dislike when people use giveaways to monger followers, etc, and I absolutely hate the idea of not following through on promises, but I also really hate internet drama. For me personally, blogger is a fun, relaxed break from the stresses of real life so I prefer to keep it as stress-free as possible, you know?

That happened to me once... but I emailed the person and got my package right away after that. That sucks though!
Oh wow, that's so shady.. you have all rights to be outraged. I say that if the person avoids or ignores you, to just spill the beans on her. Other people shouldn't waste their time joining her giveaways either.. don't get too wrapped up on this though- it's not worth stressing over. Have a happy new year!
It's not that you're mad you didn't get the prize, but at least have some communication! I mean even if she didn't send it out she could've at least been like "I sent it out and it may have gotten lost" or something like that you know? I think lying to you would be a little better than being super shady! Thank you for sending me the package though :) You communicated so well! And I used the jesse's girl shadow and I gotta post the look soon :D haha! BUT back to the post, how is she going to have more giveaways?!?! WTF.. that's sooo messed up! I think you should reveal who it is just so that the blogger world knows not to "swap" with her or whatever or maybe if she has a blog sale? Who knows if she'll send that stuff out?! Definitely reveal her :)

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! I won a giveaway "she supposedly sent it." Since she lived in Florida I expected to get it rather soon, nope. So I told her. She gave me this nonsense basically saying "Oh my Postal Office tends to steal from me.... blah blah blah!"
The whole time I'm be very lenient and being okay with it.
So she claimed she would send me something again.... Then she claimed "Oh I don't have $$$$.. blah blah blah" WHY HOLD A GIVEAWAY THEN?! I always wonder if the other girl got her prize, but she was blackballed from Blogger because of her swapping issues. lol
Nonetheless, it's not about the prize... I HATE LIARS!

2 bloggers did it to me. I am not very lucky in winning giveaways, so if i win something , it makes me ridiculously happy
One is a local blogger who told me that since i am one of her first followers, she will send me a prize. But she never did. I contacted her and she told me that she will send out and even asked me to give my shipping info. She is prominent in blogger before, she swapped with prominent bloggers in US. I am thinking, she flaked out on me because im more of a follower than a blogger. Well, she holds contest and giveaways and i dont join them anymmore.Not because she did not give me a prize, but because she is a liar. It has been about 11 months now that she promised to send.When people asked her who is the winner (her announced date) she just tells them somebody won already.
The other blogger, i won a giveaway form her before, and i got it. I won another but i did not get it. I emailed her but did not get a reply
